In April he began working for Baker University in the facilities and Operation Department eventually taking over as Director of Facilities and Operations, a position he has held for nearly ten years now. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Koehn sons, Gary Koehn and wife, Robin, of Caldwell, Kansas, Larry Koehn and wife, Jane of Lahoma, Oklahoma one brother, Martin Smith and wife, Star, of Phoenix, Arizona two sisters, Minnie Koehn of Mound Ridge, Kansas, and Florence Willis of Inman, Kansas 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Alvina was a member of the Fairview Church of God in Christ Mennonite. She was a homemaker and loving wife, of 64 years, mother and grandmother. Alvina married Lawrence Koehn in 1947 at Newton, Kansas.

Alvina was born on January 22, 1925, to Jacob and Mina (Schmidt) Smith in Montezuma, Kansas, and died June 28, 2011, at the Fairview Fellowship Home. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
